Welcome fall at the annual Music to My Beers cook-off and festival in Pearland! The weekend includes something for the whole family with kid-friendly entertainment, local beers, food, an Oktoberfest competition and more. The event is co-sponsored by The Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau, which is an indispensable resource for community and food-related news.
The fun kicks off on Friday, September 30 from 6 to 10 p.m. This year’s party, sponsored by local brewery BAKFISH Brewing Co., includes several engaging activities. There is a Sip And Stroll Craft Market hosted by the Old Pearland Farmer’s Market and a Dog Derby benefitting the Houston Humane Society. Registration is available for the dog races in two categories: Dachshund-only and “Wanna Be” Weenie for any breed 25 pounds or less. There is also an Oktoberfest Costume Contest. Entries are $10 each. Visit the event page to register your pup.
There is also live music from Houston-based singer and songwriter Dustin Harper, and an Oktoberfest cook-off competition with area judges ready to crown a winner for the best beer cheese (made with provided BAKFISH Baktoberfish beer) and chili. This year’s judges are Phaedra Cook, editor and publisher of Houston Food Finder, Danny Lee of Pearland Foodies and Erich Hoff of BrisketU. Register to compete online and purchase tasting tickets onsite.
Weekend vibes continue on October 1 during the Music to My Beers event, jam-packed with food, drink and fun activities. Admission is free, and guests are encouraged to don their Oktoberfest-themed costumes and settle into lawn chairs or blankets for a day of music and merriment. Purchase tickets onsite for the brew hall, and sip beer, cider and mead from 12 local and regional producers. These include Baa Baa Brewhouse, Celtic Cross Meadery, Galveston Bay Brewing, BAKFISH Brewing Co., Houston Cider Co. and more.
In addition to drinks, there are four food trucks dishing up seasonal favorites to satisfy every craving, from sweet to savory. Choose tacos, burritos, nachos and more from Crunchy’s, Gulf Coast essentials from Magnolia Cajun Comfort, classic bites from Seven Seeds Texas BBQ and cool, creamy desserts from Rollie’s Frozen Custard.

Saturday’s entertainment lineup features three Texas performer groups representing a variety of regional sounds. Morgan Ashley brings her spin on country, Hamilton Loomis Duo offers a blend of blues, rock and soul, and The Stringbenders keep audiences engaged with classic country, Cajun, Zydeco and more.
The weekend is presented by BAKFISH Brewing Co., Pearland Economic Development Corporation, Pearland House Concerts and Visit Pearland. Sponsors are ADDI Digital Printing, Engraphics, Judge Roy Castillo and Triad Construction Inc.
