Northwest Houston Mexican Restaurant is Opening a Second Location in Cypress

Ambriza Social Mexican Kitchen at 10115 Louetta in the Vintage Park neighborhood is set to open a second location at The Boardwalk at Towne Lake at 9945 Barker Cypress in Cypress. Owners Julio and Amber Garcia that it’s thanks to building a solid following at their Louetta Road location for their flavorful Mexican food and drinks combined with great hospitality and a colorful Día de los Muertos themed atmosphere.

For a suburban area heavily populated with chain restaurants, it’s fair to say that the restaurant is more independent and ambitious than the norm. The Garcias say they make make frequent trips to Mexico for inspiration and new recipes. “We choose the freshest ingredients to provide the best quality for all of our customers. Never frozen,” said Julio Garcia, who is originally from Mexico.

Amber Garcia, formerly a weapons specialist in the Navy who served two tours of duty in the Middle East, echoes her husband’s commitment to providing the best customer experience possible. “Whether it’s your first time or you are a regular,” she said, “we want the entire experience at Ambriza to be dramatically different from any other place you’ve been to. We value quality, hospitality and especially our customers.”

Ambriza’s authentic Mexican menu includes several speciality dishes fans are unlikely to find elsewhere such as pato al mole, or duck confit covered with mole poblano; Risotto Mexicano with grilled octopus, shrimp and scallops served over creamy risotto.

There’s an extended happy hour that runs all day on Mondays, 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays to Fridays and from 8 to 10 p.m. on Sundays. The bar menu includes Baja tacos with seared bass, red cabbage, cilantro and raspberry chipotle; tuna tostadas built on a spicy crispy tortilla with black refried beans and chipotle aioli; and moletes: plantains stuffed with chorizo and menonita cheese served over black refried beans and topped with crema, queso fresco and avocado tomatillo sauce.

Happy hour drink specials include Early Bird Gets the Gusano pricing for margaritas ($2.95 2 to 3 p.m., $3.95 3 to 4 p.m., and $4.95 4 to 5 p.m.) Outside of happy hour, margaritas are $7.95 (regular size) and $9.95 (large). 

Saturday brunch is a la carte with freshly made pan dulce, enfrijolados, or corn tortillas drenched in black bean sauce and topped with ham or chorizo, crema fresca and queso fresco; and huevos al albanil — a family recipe of scrambled eggs with black bean sauce, roasted tomato sauce, topped with sour cream and queso fresco — are among the most popular dishes. Sunday buffet brunch features tres leches pancakes made to order, pescado a la veracruzana and chilaquiles. 

There is not yet an official opening date for the Cypress Towne Lake location.
