Luxury Indian Restaurant & Nightclub Opening in The Woodlands
An Indian food and nightlife concept is coming to The Woodlands, in the form of a luxurious restaurant called Amrina, which translates to “princess.” It’s the first restaurant from Kahani Social Group, and will be located at 3 Waterway Square Place, which is owned by The Howard Hughes Corporation. The restaurant is expected to open in time for spring.
Amrina’s chef and one of the managing partners is Jaspratap “Jassi” Bindra, who recently led the kitchen at Punjab Grill in Washington D.C. In 2019, Punjab Grill received Michelin Plate recognition. (Michelin recently discontinued using the “Plate” distinction, but at the time, it provided high-level recognition simply for good food.) According to a bio from Kahani Social Group, Bindra’s specialty is “classical Indian dishes with eclectic expressions, and creating a gastronomical journey inspired by his childhood.
“From the moment I began talks with the Kahani Social Group team, I knew we’d create something incredible together, said Bindra. “I’m thrilled to join a team that is not only open to creating a revolutionary dining adventure, but is as passionate as I am about that mission.”
Kahani Social Group was co-founded by brothers Surpreet and Preet Paul Singh. “With my brother’s and my background in the restaurant industry, we know what guests are looking for,” said Surpreet. “And, with [Bindra’s] culinary expertise, we know our team will leave no stone unturned when it comes to creating the best atmosphere, menu and overall social experience.”
The Amrina menu will offer modern takes on classic regional and traditional Indian dishes, utilizing sustainably sourced ingredients, seafood and prime cuts of meat. Amrina’s tapas bar is inspired by Indian street food, but will feature influences from around the globe. The restaurant’s private dining room and chef’s table menus feature dishes created with the “royal cuisine of India” in mind.
Amrina’s fine dining space will turn into a “high energy” nightclub complete with DJs and other live entertainment on the weekends. Renderings of the forthcoming restaurant show a design decked out in jewel tones and gold embellishments.
The restaurant is divided into sections that make the meal feel more intimate. Guests can choose from private dining and semi-private dining in the different areas of the restaurant, or a chef’s table meal served in the kitchen with Bindra guiding diners through each course. The space’s features include a 30-foot indoor/outdoor bar serving both the dining room and patio, a cocktail lounge and a princess garden.
Located within walking distance of the Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavillion, Waterway Square is a dining, entertainment and lodging hub of The Woodlands. It’s common for couples and groups to dine and then stroll down the Waterway in the evening, so it is possible that an upscale restaurant that converts to an upscale club at night could be well-received by residents and travelers alike. We’ll have to wait until later this year to find out.
I am so excited to hear that a new Indian restaurant is opening! I am from the UK and have struggled to find an upscale dining experience with my favorite cuisine. There are many beautiful places in London but here in the Woodlands I believe this will be the first!
