There’s something about New Year’s Eve: the end of one year, the ushering in a new one in the wee hours of morning, hope for the future while letting go of the past. Okay, enough sentiment. There’s no one on the planet who doesn’t want to kick 2020 to the curb. Here, you can find out how to do it in the most 2020 way ever: socially distant, from the comfort of your own home.

Heights

Harold’s, 350 19th Street: This long-standing restaurant in the Heights has a big upstairs terrace for those who wish to celebrate outdoors. However, it’s also made its New Year’s Eve dishes and drinks available for those who are celebrating at home. For bubbles, there is a $15 Ruffino Prosecco option — as well as a split of Mionetto Prosecco for a mere $6. (Here’s a fun idea: everyone can have their own personal party-size bottle of bubbles — get a split for each imbiber.) For food, snack on crunchy calamari or warm up with a bowl of chowder before diving into hearty veal chops, Honey Garlic Salmon, rotisserie chicken or seared hunks of pork belly. For dessert, there’s a choice of New York-style cheesecake, tiramisu or crème brûlée. All dishes and drinks can be ordered a la carte online. Added 12/29/20, 9 a.m.

The cost is $60 per person. To order, call (713) 827-8008 before before Tuesday, December 29 for pickup on Wednesday, December 30.
