Complete your Thanksgiving table with handcrafted pies, cookies, cakes and other desserts from Houston restaurants and bakeries. Choose from traditional flavors and modern twists, all geared towards making your holiday a little sweeter. There’s always room for dessert — and calories don’t count on Thanksgiving.
Artisana Bakery, 965 Pinemont: In addition to an assortment of savory breads and rolls, this award-winning bakery near Oak Forest and Garden Oaks also has something for your sweet tooth. Thanksgiving offerings include an apple galette made with organic apples that costs $18, pumpkin pie for $20, pecan tart for $26, Pear Brown Butter Almond Cake for $25, pumpkin bread with pumpkin seed streusel for $12 per loaf and Chai-Spiced Pound Cake for $12.
There are danishes, too, for morning treats or after-dessert snack attacks. These start at $4.25 each. Croissants include plain, pain au chocolat, almond or almond chocolate, and danishes come in cream cheese or blueberry cream cheese. Place Thanksgiving pre-orders online (click the Thanksgiving tab) by 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 20. Pick up orders from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23.
BB’s Tex-Orleans, multiple locations: This Gulf Coast restaurant focuses on savory and spicy Texas-meets-Louisiana flavors — and it makes delectable sweets, too. There are three selections for Thanksgiving. A half-pan of bread pudding is $49.99, made with Leidenheimer bread from New Orleans and topped with housemade meringue. Two whole cheesecakes are $44.99 each. Choose key lime or Pecan Royale layered with caramel and chopped pecans. Place orders by selecting the order online button and your location, or call the location of your choice by 11 a.m. on November 21 for pick up on Thanksgiving Day. Badolina Bakery, 5555 Morningside: Purchase custom cakes in show-stopping designs from this modern bakery in Rice Village. Opt for 7-, 8- or 9-inch sizes in flavors such as Raspberry Rose and Chocoholic. There are also gluten-free chocolate mousse, cheesecake and dairy-free orange cakes. Select from an array of colors and one of six specialty shapes like desert, origami or cloud to customize your cake. There are cookies, too, including Pistachio Macadamia White Chocolate, Vegan Chocolate Fudge, Triple Chocolate Chips and Florentine.

Big Horn BBQ, 2300 Smith Ranch Road: In addition to hearty Thanksgiving meals and two kinds of turkeys, this local favorite is offering pies. Flavors are pecan or pumpkin, and they cost $16.99 each. Place orders in person for pick up November 14 through 23.
Blake’s Bistro, 5222 Seawall Boulevard: This kitchen located inside The San Luis Resort in Galveston is offering fresh-baked pies for Thanksgiving. The cost is $29.95, and flavors include pumpkin, pecan and apple. Place orders by calling (409) 744-8266 by November 19.
Brennan’s of Houston, 3300 Smith: This classy destination for elegant Creole fare has five Thanksgiving-worthy desserts. Choose from two pies; Brennan’s Pecan is $32 and lemon meringue is $60. There are also two styles of bread pudding that cost $30 each. Select from Creole Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce or with White Chocolate. Everyone who visits Brennan’s is offered a praline lagniappe upon departure, but these melt-in-your-mouth treats are available to go, too. Choose from a quarter- or half-pound box that contains six and 12 pralines, respectively, and cost $12 and $20. You can also purchase a dozen wrapped for $14 or a dozen individually wrapped in gold foil for $15. Order online by Friday, November 18 for pick up November 22 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. or 3 to 5 p.m.
Common Bond, multiple locations: Indulge with decadent desserts in seasonal flavors from this chic bakery. Selections include Maple Pumpkin Pie for $18, Pecan Praline Apple Pie and Bourbon Pecan Pie for $22 each, Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake for $10, Dulce de Leche Tea Cake for $12 and Apple Blondies for $9. There are macarons, too, in six flavors that include strawberry, mango passion fruit and chocolate. They are available by the half-dozen for $18 and dozen for $36.
Thanksgiving pre-orders are available for pick up at the Montrose, Med Center, Heights Bistro and City Place locations. Dessert Gallery, 3600 Kirby: Wow guests with seasonal sweets from this Houston bakery known for elaborately decorated cookies, cakes and pies that taste as good as they look. Choose from Thanksgiving butter cookies that cost $4.95 each or the Thanksgiving Cookie Extravaganza with a choice of 24 or 34 cookies and bars that cost $77.50 and $107.50, respectively. These treats are available only through November 24.
Additional options include The Great Cake Escape that comes with eight portions of the bakery’s most popular cakes such as Mom’s Chocolate and French Vanilla for $86.50, Pumpkin DreamCake for $42.50 and six pies such as Double Decker Key Lime Pie for $36.50 and To-Die-For Fudge Pecan Pie or Old-Fashioned Pumpkin Pie for $35 each. Do some good with your purchase when you order the S’mores Pie for $35. The bakery will donate 10% of proceeds to Camp for All, a place that supports children and adults with challenging illnesses or special needs. Fat Cat Creamery, 1901 North Shepherd and 1225 West 34th: Pie and ice cream go exceptionally well together, and fortunately for Houstonians there is a shop that sells both. This Heights parlor has two pies available for Thanksgiving preorder. Choose from Aunt Pat’s Pecan Pie or Brown Butter Pumpkin Pie that cost $30 each. Add two pints of ice cream of your choice for $17, and choose flavors like Cat’s Meow Mexican Vanilla, Milk Chocolate Stout, strawberries and cream and Salted Butter Caramel at pick up. Place orders online by Sunday, November 20 for pick up on November 22 or 23 at the Garden Oaks location (1225 West 34th).
Flying Saucer Pie Company, 436 West Crosstimbers: A neighborhood icon since 1967, this pie counter offers 14 housemade daily selections. Fans of fruit fillings can choose from five selections such as apple, blueberry and cherry, plus cream pies such as strawberry, coconut, lemon and key lime. Traditional holiday flavors include pumpkin — with or without cream topping — and pecan. Prices range from $18 to $22.75 for whole pies, and all pies are first-come, first-served — so plan ahead if your taste buds are set on something.
Thanksgiving week hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 19, 21 and 22, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 23. Slices are not available during Thanksgiving week. French Gourmet Bakery, 2250 Westheimer: This iconic spot for sweets has served pastries made from French family recipes since 1973. Holiday specials include iced ginger or sugar cookies in pumpkin or turkey shapes, pecan or coconut macaroons and chocolate or Lolo’s Lemon Chewies. Pies come in four flavors and cost $35 each for pumpkin, pecan or chocolate pecan, and $38 for apple. Additional seasonal options include breads like apple cinnamon, pumpkin and banana. Goode Company, multiple locations: The Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie, which is based on a family recipe and has been served at Goode restaurants since 1977, is one of Houston’s most famous and giftable desserts. For Thanksgiving, there is no need for pre-order. However, if you want to pick one up, you might want to call ahead to ensure there are still some left. They are also available for shipping in a custom wooden box for $54 per pie and $5 for shipping.
Goode Company is also setting up drive-through pie pick-up booths, although details are not yet available. (Keep an eye on the website.) Additional sweets include handmade, individually wrapped original or chewy pecan pralines. Visit the online store to order pies and pralines.
Harold’s Restaurant, Bar & Terrace, 350 West 19th: There are several desserts available from this Heights favorite. Choose from Bread Pudding with Anglaise Sauce, an eight-inch Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie, or 10-inch Granny Cake for $32 each. An eight-inch pumpkin pie is $28. Each is also available as single servings for $5.50 each. Place orders online, or call (713) 893-7588 by noon on Friday, November 18 for pick-up or free delivery (within five miles) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. November 22 and November 23.
House of Pies, multiple locations: A Houston tradition since 1967, this family-owned bakery has 28 housemade pies (some fruit fillings are only available seasonally) priced $17.95 for whole pies and $4.95 for slices. Look for classics such as Texas pecan, apple and pumpkin, or fan-favorite Bayou Goo. There are also seasonal sweets such as mince and Strawberry Cream Cheese, and sugar-free fruit such as apple and cherry. Mini pies are $5.95 each, three for $15.95 or six for $29.95.
Despite its name, the shop also sells other desserts. Cookies are $1.25 each or $12.50 per dozen. Choose from chocolate chip, Mexican Rock that are loaded with pecans and resemble stones in appearance, oatmeal raisin or coconut macaroon. Pecan Brownies cost $2.95 each and $29.50 for a dozen, and cream puffs are $4.95 a piece. All selections are first-come, first-served. Visit the holiday information page for additional details.
Kenny & Ziggy’s, 2327 Post Oak: This New York-style deli’s huge menu includes a smorgasbord of sweets. Cakes are $54 each for 10-inch, three-layer confections available in 14 flavors such as chocolate mousse, coconut, red velvet and Italian cream. Cheesecakes cost $47 for an eight-inch plain and $75 for a 12-inch; add $20 for strawberries. There are also pumpkin, coconut and turtle options for $65 each, plus several 12-inch, over-the-top selections like the OMG Cheesecake made with an Oreo crust and brownie layer, and Snickers cheesecake with chocolate mousse, fresh whipped cream and chocolate shavings for $95. Additional cakes include tiramisu and tres leches. There are also a variety of pies for $44 each, a Three-Inch High Key Lime Pie for $54 and a selection of cookies and traditional pastries by the dozen like Black & Whites, rugelach and brownies.

Koffeteria, 1110 Hutchins: Pre-order Thanksgiving treats from this EaDo bakery owned by longtime Houston pastry chef and Top Chef competitor, Vanarin Kuch. Choose from two unique pies that each serve eight to 10 people. The Oh My Gourds is made with a variety of pumpkins and squashes in a coconut custard and finished with brown sugar meringue. It is $42. For a less-traditional spin on a classic, try the Apple Crumble Pie that features a cheddar cheese shortbread crust with apples, rosemary and Thai chili filling, and finished with oat crumbles. It is $35. There are also Mini Pecan Pie Basque Tarts that serve one to two people and cost $12. Add vanilla whipped cream to any order for $8. Order online for pickup from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23 or 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, November 24.
Moeller’s Bakery, 4201 Bellaire: Locals have loved this sweet spot since it opened in 1930. Choose from a wide assortment of decorated cookies and cakes in fall and Thanksgiving shapes such as pilgrim, pumpkin, turkey and colorful leaves. There are pies, too, available in 12 flavors, including sweet potato, buttermilk, pecan, pumpkin, Boston cream, apple and more. Prices for all desserts vary by flavor, size and style. Place orders online, or step into the storefront for an added taste of nostalgia.
Paulie’s, 1834 Westheimer: This Montrose restaurant has become a go-to for seasonally decorated shortbread cookies in fun shapes. The recipe was developed by Kathy Petronella in 1998 before the business was passed to her son, Paul, in 2007. The cookies are a blend of Italian pizzelle and Irish shortbread based on her family recipes. This year’s festive selections include autumn leaves, pumpkins, fall corn and turkey. They cost $3.75 each and are $1 extra for individual wrapping. Place large orders online in advance, as in-store quantities are limited; a deposit is required for all orders. There are also chocolate chip, peanut butter and chocolate, raspberry Linzer and oatmeal cookies.
In addition to cookies, Paulie’s offers brownies and cakes. The latter include 1886 Chocolate Cake with fudge-pecan icing and Carrot Cake with cream cheese icing and walnuts. There is even a bread pudding that utilizes housemade panini bread, raisins and sweet Amaretto syrup.
Power Fit Meals, 5517 Broadway: Not only does this health food kitchen offer regular nutrition coaching, meal planning and custom prep services, but they have a holiday menu, too! The “Everything But The Bird” includes a slew of starters, sides and desserts. The latter include pumpkin or Smoked Pecan pies from Friendswood Pie Company that cost $26 and $35, respectively, and housemade fruit cobbler in peach, apple, blueberry or cherry that cost $30 to $60 depending on the size. There are also caramel apples prepared by The Caramel Apple Chick available in themes like turkey or scarecrow, and flavors like apple pie, pecan pie, pumpkin pie or salted caramel that cost $10 each. Rainbow Lodge, 2011 Ella: Bring home the elegant yet rustic charm of this unique Houston restaurant with decadent desserts. The Croissant Bread Pudding with whiskey sauce serves 12 and costs $55, and Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie serves six and costs $32. Order by calling (713) 861-8666 at least 48 hours in advance of pickup. Limited availability; pick up November 22 through 24.
Red Dessert Dive, 1045 Studewood: This sleek-and-modern Heights bakery churns out colorful, creative desserts on the daily, and Thanksgiving is no exception. Seasonal specials include Pumpkin Spice Cake with dulce de leche filling and chocolate or vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream (also available in vegan or gluten friendly variations). There are five whole pies like Whiskey Walnut Chocolate Chip, Browned Butter Pecan and Pumpkin Maple for $32 each, and a gluten-free, vegan pumpkin that is $34. Holiday selections are available in assorted sizes and prices vary per flavor; view the menu online for complete details. Additional desserts include bread pudding for $74 and cupcakes in assorted flavors that cost $23 for a half-dozen and $46 for one dozen.

Sinfull Bakery, 1714 Webster: Houston’s first vegan bakery has several Thanksgiving treats available for preorder. Choose pies available in apple, pumpkin cheesecake, sweet potato and mixed berry that cost $24 each. Cheesecakes are $50 each and come in traditional plain in a chocolate cookie crust with fudge topping, and blueberry with vanilla cookie crust and crumble. There are also cinnamon rolls available as a pan of eight jumbo or 18 minis that cost $45 for either selection. Place orders online for pick up from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. November 22 through 23.
The Box Bakery and Kitchen, 1130 Broadway: In addition to full meals that include a choice of pie, this bakery also offers an extensive menu of à la carte sweets. Cakes include Reeses for $55, carrot for $60, German chocolate for $55 and pumpkin cheesecake for $65. Ready-to-bake cinnamon rolls cost $30. There are also pumpkin pies for $25 and pecan or chocolate pecan pies for $30 each. Try a mix of treats with the dessert board that is $50 or $100, depending on the size, or choose a cookie tray that is $24 to 48. Iced cookies are $48 per dozen, and a pumpkin loaf is $15. Three Brothers Bakery, multiple locations: Originally a family business under another name in Poland, brothers Sigmund, Sol and May Jucker opened the Houston bakery in 1949 — and it is still operated by their descendants today. Holiday selections include 12 whole pies that start at $24.99 each, four of which are also sold by the slice. Flavors include pecan, Salted Caramel Pecan, cherry, pumpkin and coconut cream. The pie and coffee gift pack makes a thoughtful host gift, and comes with a pound of house-roasted coffee and either pecan or chocolate pecan pie for $42.99. There are also assorted pastry and cookie trays, dipped and decorated rounds and a wide variety of traditional cookies sold individually.
For something fun and different, try the Turkey Cake that costs $49.99. It is shaped and decorated to resemble a roast turkey, filled with a sweet “stuffing” and comes in white or chocolate cake flavors. Going all out? Shock dining companions with the Pumpecapple Piecake, a layered confection of epic proportions. It includes a pumpkin pie baked inside a pumpkin spice cake, a pecan pie baked in a chocolate cake and an apple pie baked in spice cake. Cream cheese icing holds it all together, then the dessert is finished with more icing, pecan garnish and a caramel drizzle. It is $300 and requires five days’ notice. Urban Eats, 3414 Washington: This vibrant market, restaurant and bar in the Washington Corridor is a one-stop shop for holiday meal planning and hosting. Pick up prepared goods and products from local producers in the downstairs shop, or choose Thanksgiving meals and desserts to go. The latter include Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie for $29, Pecan Praline Bread Pudding for $19, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie for $27 and Buttermilk Pumpkin Pie for $25. Each serves 8 to 10 people. Weights + Measures, 2808 Caroline: This modern bistro and bakery has several options and can acommodate specific dietary preferences. Traditional pies include apple or pumpkin pies for $35 each and Giant Carrot or Chocolate Cake that are $75 each. The gluten-free Dark Chocolate, Coffee and Cardamom Cake is $35 and the gluten-free vegan Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake is $35 (contains nuts). Wild Oats, 2520 Airline: Pick up a full Thanksgiving spread or side dishes from this cool restaurant for elevated Texas-style cuisine, and don’t forget dessert! Emporium Pies “Dough To-Go at Central Market, 3815 Westheimer: Love to make pie fillings but not crusts? This Texas-based bakery now sells ready-to-use dough at Central Market. It comes as a single, frozen, 9-inch size and is made using just five ingredients: wheat flour, butter, condensed milk, egg and salt. Use as-is, or slice into strips for latticework, rounds for tarts or use cookie cutters to make decorative shapes to adorn your desserts. Purchase it for $8.
