It’s one of the biggest steakhouse bargains of the year. As is traditional, each Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille location will sell their famous lunchtime pork chop to the first 100 diners for only 79 cents for “Flashback Friday.” That’s this-coming Friday, May 19.

The chop, which has three bones and ranges from 18 to 22 ounce, regularly costs $14.95 as a Friday special. It’s rubbed with a proprietary, spicy-sweet seasoning blend, cured, then roasted on a rotisserie over pecan wood for four to six hours. After being carved into three pieces (ribs, center-cut loin and “eyelash,” the tender, fatty part), it’s served with whipped potatoes and housemade applesauce.

The price is in honor of 1979, the year that Perry & Sons, the original butcher shop that the steakhouses evolved from, opened. (Note that the original on Scarsdale doesn’t offer the annual deal.) The company has since expanded to 13 locations, not just in Texas, but also out-of-state steakhouses in Denver, Chicago and Birmingham.

Diners must be 21 or over to take advantage of the special. Doors open at 11 a.m., and bargain hunters who want in on the deal will likely need to line up hours ahead of that. The restaurant will not accept any reservations that start before 11:30 a.m.—and the 79-cent special will likely be gone by then.
