Restaurants Where Kids Can Eat for Free in Houston

The saying goes that the only sure things in life are death and taxes. Whomever penned it clearly wasn’t a parent, since they didn’t include a third reality: raising kids is expensive. Fortunately, many restaurant owners understand that the cost of keeping children properly fed adds up over time — and offering free meals for kids is a big incentive for the parents to visit.

Here are some great kids-eat-free options in the Houston area. The free meals tend to only be available on certain days of the week, but there’s always somewhere where your little ones’ meals are covered if you purchase an entrée for yourself.

Central Northwest

Mi Tierra Mexican Kitchen, 3327 Mangum: Chef Martin Weaver confirmed that kids under 12 eat free with the purchase of an adult entree. The deal is available all day Saturday, with options like a chicken and cheese quesadilla served with a side of fries. Added July 1 at 7:32 p.m.

North Houston

Comfort Foodies, 8128 North Sam Houston: All summer long, this Caribbean-influenced soul food spot serves free kid-sized burgers and chicken tenders every Tuesday and Wednesday between 4 and 8 p.m. with the purchase of an adult entrée or basket. All meals come with a soda and a choice of mac and cheese or fries.

Spring Branch

Feges BBQ, 8217 Long Point: The Spring Branch location of Feges BBQ offers free kids meals to children under 12 every Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. Menu options include housemade sausage, grilled cheese, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, mac and cheese, a hamburger, chicken tenders and more. All meals come with a choice of side and a cookie.

Wild Oats, 1222 Witte Road: This culinary celebration of all things Texas offers free meals to kids under 10 from Tuesdays through Thursdays with the purchase of an adult entrée. Options include classics such as mac and cheese, steak fingers, corn dogs, quesadillas, grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken strips.

The Woodlands

The Goose’s Acre, 21 Waterway Avenue: There’s no need to cook up a big meal when you need to rest up for the week ahead. On Sundays, kids under 12 eat free at this Woodlands Waterway mainstay, with the purchase of an adult entrée. Alongside chicken tenders and mac and cheese, children can also choose to nosh on pepperoni pizza, shepherd’s pie and more.

Multiple Locations

Adriatic Café Italian Grill: Kids under 12 eat free every Monday at all five Adriatic Café locations, provided the adults also buy entrées for themselves. Like the grown-up menu, the options for children include Italian and Italian-American favorites such as spaghetti with your choice of sauce (marinara, meatballs, meat sauce, mushrooms or olive oil, garlic and basil), manicotti, cheese ravioli, lasagna, tortellini alla panna and more.

Crust Pizza Co.: Parents with a hankering for Chicago-style thin crust pizza can bring the kids along for a complimentary meal on Tuesdays. The special allows two children under 12 to eat free pizza, fettuccine Alfredo, chicken Alfredo, spaghetti with or without meatballs or mac and cheese for every one adult entrée purchase. Please note that Crust is a franchise, so make sure to call ahead to ensure that the location you’d like to visit offers the special.

Denny’s: Although prices and participation can vary from location to location, Denny’s offers kids eat free deals on Tuesdays between 4 and 10 p.m. The ubiquitous child-friendly menu includes three different types of pancakes, a Build-Your-Own Jr. Grand Slam, mac and cheese, chicken tenders, burgers and more.

Freebirds World Burrito: Every Sunday, kids can receive a free meal consisting of a taco and chips or a quesadilla and chips and a juice box. If you’re ordering online, use the code KIDSEATFREE at checkout to apply the deal.

Jax Grill: Along with fellow Gr8 Plate Hospitality eatery Union Kitchen, parents can bring their kids to Jax Grill for free meals this summer. Every Sunday through Tuesday, children have their choice of a cheeseburger, corn dog bites, grilled cheese and more. All kids’ entrées come with a choice of side.

Julio’s Mexican Grill: Kids eat free at this local Tex-Mex chain on Sundays, though the deal doesn’t apply on holidays. The offer requires the purchase of an adult entrée.

KP’s Kitchen, 8412 Katy Freeway and 5427 Bissonnet: Tuesdays mean both $12 burgers for grown-ups and free meals for the little ones at both KP’s Kitchen locations, making it a great double-deal for parents and kids alike. The children’s menu is available for diners age 13 and under, and includes butter pasta, chicken tenders, grilled cheese and a cheeseburger as options. You’ll need to order an adult meal in order to receive the free kid’s meal.

Local Table: All day on Mondays, kids under 12 can eat free at every location with the purchase of an adult meal. Choose from a Plant Based Happy Bowl (falafel balls, Cuban black beans, broccoli and organic lentil brown rice), a Sunshine Bowl (penne mac and cheese, grilled chicken and peas, served with carrot and cucumber sticks), penne pasta with grilled chicken and marinara or Alfredo sauce, cheese pizza and more.

Luby’s: Participating Luby’s locations offer free meals to kids 12 and under with the purchase of an adult entrée on Wednesdays and Sundays. Children select one main course (chicken tenders, chopped steak, fried fish or a chicken leg or thigh), two sides from the rotating daily selection, bread, drink and choice of Jello. If they’d prefer a vegetarian meal, they can swap the protein for another side.
