On Friday, May 2 beginning at 10:30 a.m., all locations of Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille are offering its mouthwatering Flashback Friday 79-cent Pork Chop Lunch to the first 100 dine-in guests as a way to say thank you for their continued patronage over the years (since 1979 to be exact.) The incredible deal features a lunch-cut portion of Perry’s Famous Pork Chop with whipped potatoes and homemade applesauce.
The promotion is available on a first-come, first-served basis to guests aged 21 years and older. The sweet-and-smoky chop is rubbed with a signature blend of seasonings, cured, slow-smoked, caramelized and roasted in the oven, then topped with Perry’s herb-garlic butter. It’s served with spiced applesauce — to pair the sweet notes with the savory taste of the pork — and fluffy, creamy whipped potatoes with a hint of garlic.

Perry’s got its start in Houston, originally opening in 1979 as Perry’s Butcher Shop and Deli. Founder Bob Perry would eventually be persuaded by his son, Chris, (now the owner of Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille) to add a dining room and convert to a full-fledged restaurant which would become Perry & Sons Market and Grille. The family would launch Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille in 1993, with locations across Texas and in Birmingham, Chicago, Denver, Miami, Nashville, Raleigh and Richmond, followed by sister concepts CARVE American Grille and VERDAD True Modern Mexican (both of which are in Austin.) Sadly, the original Perry & Sons located at 12830 Scarsdale closed in 2020, but a second outpost at 614 South Friendswood Drive in Friendswood, just southeast of Houston, is still in operation.
If you can’t make it to this week’s Flashback Friday event, the restaurant offers a $19 Pork Chop Friday special from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for dine-in or to-go. It includes the 18-ounce lunch-cut chop served on a sizzling cast-iron plate with whipped potatoes, applesauce and bread. To say it draws a crowd would be an understatement, as the company serves 13,000 lunch-cut pork chops across its 22 steakhouse locations each Friday. This includes seven locations across the Houston area in neighborhoods such as River Oaks, The Woodlands, Baybrook, Katy and more.

During dinner service, guests can sink their teeth into the “seven-finger-high” Dinner-Cut Pork Chop — created by Chris Perry over 40 years ago — which is carved tableside and presented on a hot cast iron plate. It’s topped with a lime wedge to provide a bright, citrusy contrast to the rich, savory flavors of the pork which is served with applesauce. The 32-ounce, three-bone smoked pork chop is priced at $49.

Finally, its flagship item is also available as a part of the 3-Course Pork Chop Sunday Supper every Sunday, from 4 p.m. to close for $49. This special includes the Dinner-Cut Pork Chop with soup or salad and your choice of an individual side such as whipped potatoes, thick-cut chargrilled veggies or grilled asparagus or a dessert trio.
