Houston Restaurants Prepare Unique To-Go Packs for Mother’s Day 2020

Phat Eatery take-out feast

After a very long six weeks, restaurants were finally allowed to re-open dining rooms —at a vastly lowered capacity of 25% guest occupancy — on May 1. While some reopened, with the total number of coronavirus cases still climbing in Houston, some owners are choosing a more cautious approach — and so are many Houston diners.

Here’s the good news: the current situation has spurred restaurants to put together many wonderful Mother’s Day takeout packages. Some are not only multicourse meals but also include add-ons such as mimosas and flower arrangements. Below are some great to-go selections.  Place an order, then head curbside to pick up great goodies for Mom.

The Rustic, 1836 Polk: The ready-to-cook Mother’s Day meal kits include a choice of entrée, baby kale salad with lemon dressingsweet potatoes with salted maple butter, steamed green beans and jalapeño spoon bread. Entrée selections are game hens, served with ancho lime butter, stuffed and bacon-wrapped pork loin with honey mustard glaze and prime rib with horseradish sauce. Each kit feeds two to three people. The cost for the game hens and pork loin is $49.95; the prime rib is $64.95. Options are available for larger families. Full details and ordering information is available on The Rustic’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Orders must be placed by May 6 for pickup May 8 through 10.
