Red Velvet Waffles at New Spot Eatery

The dining rooms of Houston’s Westchase neighborhood restaurants may be closed, but you can still enjoy your favorite dishes! Takeout, curbside pickup and delivery are available at many area eateries. Take a break from cooking and support local businesses during this especially difficult time.

Our list below highlights some of the restaurants that are still open, and we will update as we learn of more. If you don’t see one of your favorites, visit their websites and social media pages to see if they are still serving customers.

Arpi’s Phoenicia Deli, 12151 Westheimer, 281-558-0416: Opened in 1983 by Lebanese immigrants, this restaurant and deli, which is an extension of the Phoenicia grocery store, is offering its full menu of Mediterranean specialties for takeout or pickup at its drive-through. Call and order the famous shawarma — available in chicken, beef or lamb — and a side of tabouli. While you are there, consider getting groceries curbside or delivered. Arpi’s menu is also available for delivery via UberEats, DoorDash and Postmates.

Fadi’s Mediterranean Grill, 12360 Westheimer, (281) 556-8390: Founded in 1996, Fadi’s now operates five locations in the Houston area (and two in Dallas). All Fadi’s locations have transitioned to online ordering with options for takeout or curbside pickup. Snag favorites and daily specials such as chicken tagine, lamb shank, hummus, tabouli, kabobs, falafel. There are also family meals that feed three to four people. Delivery is available via DoorDash, Uber Eats and GrubHub.

Izakaya Hi, 12637 Westheimer, (832) 288-4590: For now, you can’t indulge your karaoke talent at this Japanese pub that also serves Korean favorites — but you can still enjoy the food while singing along at home. It offers an array of vegetarian appetizers such as grilled shishito peppers, vegetable tempura and fried Brussels sprouts. Meat lovers can enjoy sweet and savory Bulgogi Don (marinated rib eye with rice) or the Pork Belly with Kimchi. There is also a variety of bento boxes, poke bowls, nigiri, sashimi and specialty rolls. Don’t forget to checkout the sake selection that includes Kikusui “Perfect Snow” Nigori. Mi Pueblito Restaurant, 9425 Richmond, (713) 334-4594: This Colombian restaurant is offering specialties such as bandeja paisa, which is a plate of grilled steak, pork belly and pork sausage with beans, fried plantains, avocado and a corn patty, tilapia in coconut milk sauce, oxtail soup and empanadas. Order for takeout, curbside pickup and direct delivery within in five miles.

Ocean Snow Balls, 2602 S Dairy Ashford, (713) 884-7555: Almost everyone can satisfy their sweet tooth at this drive-through snowball stand with over 100 flavor and flavor combos. Call ahead for pickup at the drive-through or order when you arrive.

The Original Marini’s Empanada House, 10001 Westheimer, (713) 266-2729: Open since 1971, the Marini family knows a thing or two about adapting to shifting marketplaces. Now, they are offering empanadas and other Argentinian specialties such as Beef Gaucho and Chicken Diablo for takeout. Call or place your order online.

Rockfish Seafood Grill, 11805 Westheimer, (281) 558-7380: Craving crawfish, shrimp and other seafood? Then call and place your order for takeout or curbside pickup. Delivery available via DoorDash, UberEats and GrubHub.

Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen 13346 Briar Forest Drive, (281) 497-9800: This west side outlet of the local New York-style pizzeria chain is offering takeout, curbside pickup and delivery by its own drivers. Call or place an order online. Order $10 or more and receive 20-percent off delivery orders. In addition, the Family Meal Deal is $49 (normally $85). Third-party delivery is available via UberEats, DoorDash and Favor.

Saldivia’s South American Grill 10850 Westheimer, (713) 782-9494: This South American restaurant has a pared-down take-out menu that includes empanadas, Pechuga a las Brazas (grilled chicken breast) and bottles of Spanish wine such as Corral de Campanas Tempranillo. There are also daily specials like the Tuesday Chicken Milanesa with Russian Potato Salad.

Sangam Chettinad Indian Cuisines, 11398 Westeimer, (281) 741-2726: This eatery opened in 2018 and specializes in Chettinad food, which is a South India cuisine known for its masalas and vegetarian dishes. Order takeout online and choose from specialties such as vegetable or Seeraga Samba Goat biryanis, drinks like rose milk and mango lassi, and specialty seafood dishes like Vanjaram Meen  (King Fish) Curry. Delivery available via UberEats, DoorDash, GrubHub and Postmates.

Thai Cottage 5206 Bissonnet, (713) 838-0707, 10001 Westheimer, (713) 266-0701: A healing bowl of Tom Yum Soup is a perennial favorite at this local Thai chain, while the Peanut Rama (sautéed chicken with peanut sauce) is a more adventurous choice. Throw in a couple of bottles of Singh beer and hunker down. Order online or call for pickup. Delivery available via DoorDash.

YAO Restaurant and Bar, 9755 Westheimer, (832) 251-2588: This Chinese restaurant and sports bar is serving up its full menu, plus some off-menu specials and frozen wonton and dumpling packs. Check social media or call for details. You can snag a four-course dinner for two or Peking Duck with Crepes and the six-hour braised Tong Po Pork Belly for takeout, curbside pickup or direct delivery. Order online or give them a call. Delivery is also available via DoorDash, Postmates and Favor.
