Whatever your plans, be sure to include a visit to the Pearland Festival of Lights at Pearland Town Center, which is presented in collaboration with Second Baptist Church and Champion Energy. It is free to attend and is open daily from 6 to 10 p.m. December 15 through December 24. Adults-Only Santa Night on December 17 at The Butcher, The Baker, The Cheese Board Maker, 5012 Broadway: The “Drinks With Santa” event booked up the first two nights, so a third evening was recently added to keep the people happy. It is from 7 to 9 p.m., and guests are encouraged to wear your sassiest holiday attire and come prepared for photo ops with an extra-special Santa, and a general good time in a cozy, festive atmosphere. New Year’s Eve on December 31 at Vallensons’ Brewing Company, 4081 Rice Drier: Come to this craft brewery for the rotating selection of 15 to 20 beers on tap, and stay for the family-friendly atmosphere. Example offerings include Vali Boy West Coast IPA, Salty Dog fruited sour and Belgian Golden Strong ale. Enjoy Vallensons’ beers in the backyard or patio, or order 32-ounce crowlers and growlers to go. The cool destination is often hosting special events, and this December boasts three ways to get in on the fun.

The Hogmanay New Year’s Celebration is sure to be an energizing way to ring in 2024 in true Scottish festive fashion. Fanfare will include food truck Seven Seeds Texas BBQ beginning at noon, and live music from The Slags at 2:30. Bagpipers and drummers will keep the energy going, and guests can ring in the New Year on Scottish time — 6 p.m. local. It is the ideal party for folks who prefer going home early on New Year’s Eve. Holiday Dining in Pearland

Whether you’re hosting a crowd or just meeting up with friends and colleagues, these locations are ready with large spaces for dine-in and to-go menus of festive fare.

Big Horn BBQ,  2200 Smith Ranch Road: This family-operated barbecue restaurant has something for everyone — including a fuel station and gift shop. Menu highlights include burgers, such as the popular Smoked Brisket Burger — a thick, charbroiled patty topped with saucy smoked brisket, onions and pickles — plus barbecue like brisket or pulled pork available as plates and sandwiches. Round out your meal with one of 15 different sides such as Loaded Mashed Potatoes and coleslaw, and six desserts like cobbler and pie. Visit on Saturdays for live music from 6 to 9 p.m.

  • Private Dining: There is no fee for groups of up to 40 in the Southside portion of the main dining room or Northside room; pay for meals individually or on a single tab. For larger parties, reserve the Brazos Room, which seats up to 50 and/or the Northside Room with seating up to 75. Big Horn BBQ will even work with you on a custom menu for your event.   • Nice to Know: Dining at home? There are holiday to-go meals, too, with options like whole turkeys à la carte or family meals that come with turkey and all the trimmings.  Prices start at $59.99 for Original or Cajun. Floyd’s Seafood, 1300 East Broadway: Guests love this local hotspot for its classic and flavorful Gulf Coast fare such as oysters and ceviche at lunch and dinner, but it offers stellar to-go and catering options, too. Skip the cooking and order a Texas-Meets-Louisiana feast brimming with fresh seafood and Southern sides. The a la carte holiday menu includes entrées of Crawfish Étouffée and Seafood, Shrimp or Chicken & Sausage Gumbo available by the half and full gallon. Pair with sides such as Dirty Rice, Corn Maque Choux and Maple Spiced Carrots. Prices start at $40 for the gumbo and $55 for the étouffée, and all sides are $25 each. Magnolia Cajun Comfort, 1807 Broadway: If mornings are more your speed, don’t miss the new Sunday brunch available only through the end of the year. It is weekly from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with buffet and à la carte dishes. The latter include breakfast selections, such as the Omelette Your Way. It is $14 and includes a three-egg omelette and choice of four toppings from 14 selections like beef short rib, andouille sausage, mushrooms, and asparagus. Additional brunch include eight dishes like Stuffed French Toast, Crabcake Benedict and Biscuits & Gravy.

Private Dining: If an intimate space is needed for your occasion, choose from two party rooms: the private room seats up to 9 guests and the semi-private event space seats up to 60. There is a preset menu for groups of 20 or more, and minimum food and beverage requirements apply during certain times of the year. However, there are no additional fees for either room. Taglia Fresh Italian, 3115 Dixie Farm: Why should night owls have all the holiday fun? Gather your group for festive daytime dining with the $12 lunch menu at this chic-casual Italian favorite. Everything on the midday weekday menu is priced the same, making it a cinch to keep spending in check while indulging in fresh goodies like The Italian Sandwich stuffed with five kinds of meat, two cheeses and lots of veggies, entrées such as Chicken Florentine in a spinach lemon garlic sauce, and Pasta La Rosa featuring a parmesan and mozzarella sauce plus bacon, chicken and jalapeños. The special menu is served Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Private Dining: Choose from the private covered and heated patio, or rent the next-door dining room of sister restaurant Stella’s Fresh Brunch, which is available from 3 to 9 p.m. and has a private bar and patio.
