Food Takes Center Stage in Recent Reviews 

Ray had this to say on Google: “Eugene’s Gulf Coast Cuisine is a hidden gem in Houston… the restaurant is definitely lively and full.” Ray goes on about his 14-ounce ribeye: “It was full of flavor, cooked to perfect medium-rare, and the fat was rendered just right! I paired it with Lagavulin 16 year Scotch. Tremendous! The vibes in the restaurant were excellent”  If that doesn’t make you want to order a juicy steak alongside heavily peated Islay single malt Scotch on a chilly evening, perhaps nothing will. 

Ray also highlighted his dining companion’s choice of Crab Madison, “a baked delight of jumbo lump crabmeat and green onion sautéed in garlic butter and seasonings topped with Parmesan cheese.”

Rex C stated on Yelp that he was “blown away!” With a New Year’s Eve experience that explored the traditional Cajun flavors that Eugene’s is known for, Rex praised the lightly battered fried shrimp in the po’boy saying “The shrimp are very fresh and full of flavor.” Later in his review, he describes the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo as “simply amazing” before laying it all on the line for his love of the “redfish special with the crab topping” proclaiming it “phenomenal.” 

Seth chimed in on OpenTable in his succinct five-star evaluation: “Our first time in the new location. The food was excellent. The stuffed redfish and the courtboullion [sic] were standouts. We will be back.”

Eugene’s  Service and Ambience Earn High Praise 

Lindsey opined on Google “I came for a girls’ night this last Friday and it was wonderful. From the moment I stepped onto the sidewalk, everyone was incredibly friendly and very helpful. Our server was so fantastic and patient with our indecisiveness, and helped guide us in the right direction. Highly recommend for date night, be it romantic or girls’ night.” It’s always difficult to be decisive with so many delectable options. Having the right server makes all the difference, and it shows. 

Marie also appreciated the hospitality and atmosphere, commenting on OpenTable that, “Eugenes has consistently good service and great food with nice atmosphere/ambiance. We are frequent visitors and will continue to enjoy each dining experience.” She goes on to call it a neighborhood gem, highlighting brunch and happy hour. Meanwhile, customer Armin’s write-up says, “Our waiter Aldi was very attentive and excellent.”
