Food Festival Returns to Richmond Farm and Features Many Top Chefs
Celebrate the spring harvest during Chef Fest and join a bushel of garden-loving Houston chefs for education, hand-on experiences — and, of course, many types of food and drinks to try. The annual event returns to Harvest Green Village Farm at the planned community of Harvest Green in Richmond on Sunday, April 10 from noon to 4 p.m. “It will be a day of culinary delights, refreshing drinks, hands-on experiences and more,” said Scott Snodgrass, co-owner of Agmenity, the Houston-based company that manages the farm and organizes the event.
General admission includes unlimited bites, five drink tickets, farm tours and live music. It is $95 for adults and $20 for children. VIP tickets are $135 for adults and $20 for children, and include everything in the general admission list, plus one-hour early admission, an extra drink ticket and entry to the soft serve ice cream station. An estimated 1,200 guests will join in the fun. Advance ticket purchase is highly recommended and can be made online.
Must-do activities include the farm tour, dancing and music, and guests can purchase tickets for additional experiences. These include a cooking class and natural egg dying activity for kids taught by chefs Jane Wild and Lindsey Fequen of KITCH ($25), and a pickling and fermentation class for adults taught by chef Alvin Schultz of Eat, Drink, Experience ($15).
The highlight of the day, of course, is the seasonal fare offered by the inspired chefs and bartenders. Returning this year is Top Chef season 19 contestant and co-owner of Kin, Evelyn Garcia. First-time chefs include Angelo Emiliani of Angie’s Pizza and Café Louie, David Cordua, executive chef and principal of David + Michael Cordúa Events and The Lymbar, Jeff Potts of 93’Til, Martha Wilcox Chef du Cuisine of Indianola, Michelle Wallace, executive chef of Gatlin’s BBQ, Paris Anton, Chef at Vegan AF-ish and Victoria Elizondo of Cochinita & Co. who will prepare Chocolate Mi Mole with Candied Chapulines.
To round out the sampling, Slow Dough Bread Co. will offer handmade pretzels and Fat Cat Creamery is serving chef-crafted seasonal soft serve. The Harvest Green Village Farm team is making a paan soft serve, Garcia, will be presenting Cinnamon Ice Cream with Fish Sauce Caramel, Emiliani will prepare Beet with Rose Ras Al Hanout and Citrus Jam and Schultz will present Black Fermented Carrot soft serve. Dairy alternatives include Salted Date & Tahini from Anton, and Chocolate Mimole from Elizondo. The sweet treat is included with VIP tickets, and costs $10 per person for general admission.
In addition to chef-prepared cocktails, drinks include Frankly Organic Vodka, Desert Door Sotol, Milam & Greene Whiskey, Messina Hof Winery, No Label Brewing, SIPPLE (non-alcoholic bar), and Rambler Sparkling Water.
