Fido Photo Contest at Ember and Greens
July 11 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
HOUSTON… Is your favorite canine ready for his or her close-up?
Well, considering there’s a free dinner for four people and one dog riding on that photo, it may be time to get into makeup and photo Fido.
Ember & Greens, the popular, innovative restaurant on the Katy Freeway in Hedwig Village, is launching the Fido Photo Contest for the funniest, cutest or a combination-of-both dog photo in recognition of All-American Pet Photo Day, Sunday, July 11.
All one has to do is catch your crazy canine at his or her best, then post the photo. Just follow and tag Lola & Baxter and Ember & Greens on Instagram or Facebook or post a picture on your story page or feed and tag @emberandgreens and @lolaandbaxter. Use the hashtag #AllAmericanPetPhotoDay. Only one entry per person is permitted. Photos must be of dogs. Cats and other pets may protest off premises. All photos must be posted by noon, Friday, July 9.
The winner, to be announced at 3 p.m. July 11 on Ember & Greens’ pet-friendly patio (weather permitting), will win dinner for four people plus a one-pound packet of the restaurant’s house-made Lola & Baxter dog food. Second place and third place winners will receive a package of Lola & Baxter fresh food and treats.
The Fido Photo Contest Sunday brunch will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, July 11, offering special prices on food, pooch-related libations and, since dogs are welcome on the patio, Lola and Baxter snacks. Ember & Greens’ full Sunday brunch menu will also be available.
Patio space is limited and will be open if weather permits so reservations are suggested. Be sure to confirm the patio is open that afternoon as dogs are not allowed inside the restaurant.
All American Pet Photo Day is celebrated across the globe on July 11 through various social media platforms. According to the national calendar, this day is celebrated by posting various pictures and videos with the hashtag, #AllAmericanpetphotoday. Its inception was on social media, following which the day started being observed annually as an important ‘love-oriented’ day.
Just celebrating its first anniversary, Ember & Greens is owned by Nadereh Ahly and her son, Iman Yarjani. The long-time Memorial Villages residents devised the name from the restaurant’s coal-fired ovens – the embers – and its focus on locally-sourced vegetables, spices and herbs, thus the greens. Although the family is Persian, their menu is best described as modern American because they combine both local and international influences to all their dishes. It’s actually a reflection of Houston’s own diverse cultural identity.
Lola & Baxter is a line of healthy dog food and treats created and made by Nadereh. For more information, go to [email protected]. The food can be purchased online and through the restaurant.
Ember & Greens is located at 9403B Katy Freeway between Bunker Hill and Echo Lane in Hedwig Village.
