Fat Tuesday’s Mardi Gras Special at Ouisie’s

Fat Tuesday’s Mardi Gras Special at Ouisie’s

Traditional New Orleans’ food and drink menu all day Feb. 16

HOUSTON – Around the world in English-speaking countries the last night before Lent is traditionally known as ‘Fat Tuesday.’ Prior to COVID, it was a night of parties, debauchery and gluttonous dining. And nothing defined Fat Tuesday better than New Orleans.

Well, always a place that loves old traditions, Ouisie’s Table Restaurant is going to give a nod to pre-pandemic times by giving everyone a chance to taste a little New Orleans on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 16.

For both lunch and dinner that Tuesday, Ouisie’s Table, 3939 San Felipe, is offering all a Fat Tuesday in New Orleans menu featuring a heaping bowl of its signature seafood and sausage jambalaya paired with New Orleans’ favorite native cocktail, the Sazerac. End the feast with two, sugar-dusted beignets. While it may lack the parade, the raucous crowds and the flying beads, the Ouisie’s Fat Tuesday in New Orleans does have something a little shocking – the meal, drink and dessert are just $30 per person plus tax and gratuity!

So why is it called Fat Tuesday? That’s a simple answer. Fat Tuesday is the English translation from the French Mardi Gras. As to why the French call it that, it’s because for centuries it is the night people indulged in all the things, usually fattening, fun and intoxicating that are being given up for lent.

Note, Ouisie’s is doing all it can to stop the spread of COVID so suggested spacing between tables is adhered to, as is the required wearing of masks while entering, leaving or moving about the restaurant.

Ouisie’s Table is located at 3939 San Felipe and valet parking is available. For reservations and information, please call 713-528-2264.
