Local Spots With Fun-Filled Recurring Happenings

Rob Ray’s Taproom, 2503 Covey Lane: This locals’ favorite hang has a calendar chock-full of events for the entire family as well as adult-centric happenings. The options range from recurring weekly bingo and poker nights to all-day action on weekends, including live music, crawfish boils, magic shows and karaoke. With so much going on, there’s just too much to list in one place, so take a look at its online calendar and decide which of the many shindigs suits you best. Rob Ray’s is starting the month off with a bang, showcasing a double feature on Wednesday, April 2 at 8 p.m.: a trivia event and a Texas Hold’em tournament, followed by an afternoon Shrimp Boil on Saturday, April 5th, which kicks off at noon. 

Saloon Door West, 1231 Broadway: Featuring a recurring karaoke night every Sunday in April, the recently upgraded Saloon Door West has a full schedule to revel in. Don’t miss its open mic on Monday, April 28. If you’re a singer, guitarist or comedian, contribute your skills to a night of fun and entertainment, and if you’re not, enjoy the night as a member of the audience while supporting local talent.

LIT Java Coffee & Books, 5018 Broadway: This relative newcomer to the Pearland scene is celebrating its one-year anniversary of “[u]sing coffee and books to connect the community to ‘LIT’erary experiences.” Check out recurring wordsmith workshops every Wednesday, which includes the Journaling Happy Hour and Writer’s Sprint, where writers follow prompts to reflect on what’s going well and areas to improve on while pushing themselves to compose for longer increments in a supportive, encouraging environment. Gospel Bingo is being hosted by Shawnti Refuge on Saturday, April 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. and promises to be a night of fun, fellowship and fantastic prizes. Check out the website for more information. 

Save The Date For These One-Day-Only Pearland Events! 

Spring Fest, Independence Park, 3449 Pearland Parkway: On Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Pearland’s newest family-friendly event, Spring Fest, will feature live entertainment, the H-E-B Imagination Station, interactive attractions, a craft market, local food and much more. There’s plenty of fun in store, so head out and enjoy everything this exciting event has to offer! Admission is free. However, an activity wristband is required to participate in most rides and attractions and can be secured online. Free parking is available at Pearland ISD Stadium, located at 3775 South Main. Selena Celebration: Shop with a Show, Pearland Town Center, 2624 McHard Road: South Texans’ love for the late Latina singer, Selena, knows no bounds. On Saturday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., explore over 50 unique vendors from the surrounding area while enjoying a vibrant lineup of performances presented by the local community and surrounding areas, delivering an experience you won’t want to miss. PURANAVA Indian Art & Culture Fest, 2624 McHard: On Saturday, April 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., immerse yourself in the vibrant world of traditional Indian Art and Culture at this free, all-day soirée, now in its seventh year. Highlights include a vendor bazaar, Indian street food, henna, a kids zone with arts, crafts and games, a photo booth and more. Attendees will be treated to classical folk performances and a chariot festival, as well as traditional music, dance and art. Whether you are an art enthusiast, food lover or simply curious about Indian culture, this fest has something for everyone. Grand Dinner presented by Community Health Network, North Grand Boulevard: The official kickoff to the Pearland Grand Arts and Eats Festival, takes place on Friday, April 25 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. This dining experience provides the perfect blend of historic charm and unforgettable flavors as the community comes together for a magical evening in Old Town Pearland. Pearland Grand Arts and Eats Saturday, April 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Old Town, 2314 Grand Boulevard: The coup de grâce of this season’s event calendar is one for the books. Prepare for a day packed with events and attractions showcasing the very best Pearland has to offer. The Artist’s Alley will feature painters, woodworkers and jewelry makers while the Family Fun Zone highlights include carnival games, face painting, a cake walk and snow cones. Food and beverage provided by local stars Central Texas BBQ, Mikki’s Cafe and Vallensons’ Brewing Company ensures that bellies stay full and palates will not dry.
