The Bar Is Open At The Original Beaver’s
It has been quite some time since the original Beaver’s at 2310 Decatur temporarily closed. As reported by the Houston Chronicle, when it shuttered in July 2017, the intent was that it would just be through the summer to be “rejuvenated,” i.e. maintenance and remodeling.
In the meantime, the newer Beaver’s at 6025 Westheimer, under chef and pitmaster Arash Kharat, has been filling the gap for excellent queso, barbecue, Bloody Marys, chicken fried steak and other comfort foods.
Now, about nine months later, the original is finally reopening.
The original Beaver’s is only offering bar service for now. The drink list includes eight favorites from the past as well as new seasonal selections. The latter includes an Avocado Margarita, the Oaxacan Julep and a Paloma that gets a punch of heat from pequin pepper. Of course, there’s craft beer and wine, too, for those not in the mood for concoctions featuring spirits.
On the food side, a photo reveals a bar bites menu that includes the old vegetarian favorite, the Nut Burger. This time around, it’s being served on a roll from Cake & Bacon. There’s also fried beets, a bar cheeseburger and barbacoa tacos.
The original Beaver’s initial hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 4 to 10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 4 to midnight. The full menu will roll out later this summer.
