Popular Houston Sports Bar on Richmond Avenue Set to Shutter the End of July
After eight years as a hotspot for watching sports or just enjoying pub food and beer, Revelry on Richmond, located at 1613 Richmond Avenue, is closing on July 31. Before it does, owner Ted Baker has planned a few final celebrations. Baker also owns Penny Whistle Pub, next door to Revelry at 1625 Richmond Avenue, and Bobcat Teddy’s at 2803 White Oak in the Heights. Those will continue operating.
In short, Baker decided to not renew Revelry’s lease, but did release a brief statement complimenting the property management company: “We’d like to thank our property manager Braun Enterprises and our loyal customers for making Revelry a huge success. The neighborhood embraced us and we thrived for eight years. There were plenty of great times with an eclectic mix of people, and we look forward to continuing serving this area next door.”
First up: extra happy hour time. For the remaining Fridays in July, happy hour will last all day long, from when Revelry opens at 2 p.m. until it closes at 1 a.m.
Secondly, loyal patrons can celebrate seeing some familiar faces when some of the original staff members return to take on guest bartending shifts.
Finally, a farewell party caps off the final month of business. It’s on Saturday, July 30. Details on what’s happening during the party aren’t available yet, but those will be announced on social media.
