Send Your Love At The Valentines For Veterans Event At Saint Arnold Brewing Company

The annual Valentines for Veterans event is Monday, January 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. Hosted as usual at Saint Arnold Brewing Company at 2000 Lyons, it’s an opportunity to make Valentine’s cards for veterans struggling with service-related trauma. Craft tables will be stocked with supplies to make the valentines. Attendees can bring their own supplies, too—but please, no glitter.

A wristband for the event $10 per person and ensures those 21 and up won’t go thirsty. That said, it’s a family-friendly endeavor that welcomes everyone, so whether you’ve got a loved one in the military or just love crafts (or beer), you’re encouraged to attend.

There will be plenty of goodies for volunteers to enjoy at the event or take home for later as thanks to a bake sale featuring treats from both home bakers and professional bakers. Saint Arnold’s kitchen will also have hot food for purchase.

There’s also a raffle. Tickets cost $5 each and prizes include gift baskets and certificates from local businesses.

Originally organized by blogger Nishta Mehra (also known as Blue Jean Gourmet), the proceeds from Valentines For Veterans (including $5 from every wristband) benefit the non-profit organization Expedition Balance which helps heal these service members by engaging them with positive coping activities like yoga, peer bonding, nutrition education, outdoor activities and more.

Bakers who want to donate sweet or savory baked goods can sign up at the website or send an email. Businesses willing to donate items for the charity auction should email coordinator Paula Nino to make arrangements.

Visit the Valentine’s For Veterans website for more information or to submit the address of a veteran who you’d like to receive a card.
