Where To Start 2018: New Year’s Day Brunches In Houston

Whether you’re getting past some New Year’s Eve overindulgence or just celebrating the dawn of a new year, there’s a Houston restaurant with a brunch that fits. Here are some places to visit for the first big meal of 2018.

Backstreet Cafe, 1103 Shepherd: Restaurateur Tracy Vaught and chef Hugo Ortega’s classic restaurant is offering a special brunch service from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., including black-eyed peas “for good luck.”

Bosscat Kitchen & Libations, 4310 Westheimer: A popular destination for whiskey lovers, Bosscat is serving their “Sunday Funday” brunch menu on New Year’s Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Caracol, 2200 Post Oak Boulevard: Caracol is serving an a la carte New Year’s Day brunch service from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the regular dinner dinner menu kicking into effect after brunch ends.

CRU Food & Wine Bar, 2800 Kirby and 9595 Six Pines, The Woodlands: In honor of 2018, CRU is offering a special New Year’s Day brunch for $20.18 that includes two courses off the regular menu and bottomless mimosas.

Dish Society, all locations: The Houston-grown chain with locations in the Galleria, Katy and Memorial is serving regular brunch service at all locations (including specialty mimosas) from opening until brunch service concludes at 3:00 p.m. No reservations are needed.

FM Kitchen & Bar, 1112 Shepherd Drive: Chef Ryan Hildebrand’s casual spot is offering brunch items like “Hoppin’ John and Eggs” with black-eyed peas, a “PB&J Milkshake”, signature cocktails and wing platters. Brunch is being served all day—perfect for late-risers.

Hugo’s, 1600 Westheimer: Hugo’s is offering diners a chance to “Return to Life” at their brunch buffet, served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The costs is $21 per adult and $15 per child. Reservations are highly recommended.

La Table, 1800 Post Oak Boulevard: Offering a “New Year’s Day Grand Brunch”, La Table is serving up a selection of raw bar items, carving stations and a chocolate fountain. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with adult pricing at $69 and children at $35.

Le Peep, 9807 Katy Freeway and 4340 Westheimer: Both locations are open and serving libations such as Bloody Mary’s, mimosas and Bellinis as well as assorted craft beer and wine. Brunch service at both locations runs from open till close, 2:30 p.m. for the Katy Freeway location and 3 p.m. for the Galleria location.

Rainbow Lodge, 2011 Ella Boulevard: Rainbow Lodge is offering up a hearty New Year’s Day brunch along with mimosa and eggnog specials from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call (713) 861-8666 to make reservations, which we do recommend.

Weights + Measures, 2808 Caroline: This midtown restaurant and bakeshop is serving their regular brunch service from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with favorites like Egg-In-Da-Hole and featuring cocktail specials from the New Years Eve menu this evening.

Xochi, 1777 Walker Street: Ranked number one on our best new restaurant of 2017 list, Xochi is serving an a la carte brunch menu from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with their regular dinner service menu taking effect once brunch service concludes until 9 p.m.
