Houston Restaurants and Bars Just Now Opening Or Closed After Harvey

The good news it that many of Houston’s beloved restaurants and bars are reopening daily. The bad news is that a few are still experiencing the aftermath of Harvey, resulting in delays and indeterminate reopening dates. Currently the below locations are not yet ready for service but we will be updating this as information comes in to add and remove businesses as relevant.

According to their Facebook page, Kiran’s will reopen Friday, September 8 at 4 p.m. for happy hour and dinner; afternoon tea and dinner resumes on Saturday, September 9, and regular hours return Monday, September 11.

Patrons can now raise a pint at King’s BierHaus in the Heights, which suffered minimal damage during the storm, now open for lunch and dinner service. The restaurant is hosting a “Come Together” fundraiser on Monday, September 5 and will donate 100% of the proceeds directly to victims of the storm. Additional information about the fundraiser are available on their Facebook page here.

Le Bistro, the cafe located within the Culinary Institute LeNôtre, will reopened on Tuesday, September 5. Visit their website for additional details.

So far, Texas-based restaurant chain Jason’s Deli has reopened 26 of 30 affected Gulf Coast locations. Keep in mind that delivery serves may be limited due to road closures and available staff. Additional updates can be found on their dedicated Harvey updates page here.

Killen’s STQ in Briargrove/Memorial (2231 S Voss Road) was surrounded by water most of this week but they reopened September 1.

Good news for French food fiends as Bistro Provence in Memorial (13616 Memorial Drive) will reopen tonight at 6 p.m. Owner Genevieve Guy was unable to access the restaurant until today, hence the delay, but she says the restaurant is in tip top shape and ready for service.

Ooh La La’s Town & Country location (770 West Sam Houston Pkwy N #500) is on hold to open with a non-specific opening date. At this time most of the roads leading to the business are closed making it difficult for staff to reach it.

City Acre Brewing is hoping to reopen by mid-next week but invites patrons to follow them on social media or via their newsletter for current expectations. They are in the midst of repairing drywall and other damage caused by Harvey.

All Houston-area Perry’s Steakhouse locations are open except for Champions (9730 Cypresswood Dr) , which should reopen in about 10 days.

Justin Yu’s forthcoming restaurant Theodore Rex (1302 Nance St. Ste A) was originally slated to open in August but that has been pushed back due to Hurricane Harvey.

Brenner’s On The Bayou (1 Birdsall St.) is currently closed until further notice. Their Facebook page says to expect about 30 days until it reopens, as consistent with past flooding experiences at the property.

Readers, if you come across other restaurants that are not going to be able to open for a while, please e-mail us.

I know that home owners are required to evacuate in one area south of I 10 east of 6, west of Gessner and north of Briar Forest. There are restaurants in that area. Are they also required to leave?
