Conservatory Marks One-Year Anniversary With New Food Vendors And Specials

Houston’s first food hall, Conservatory, at 1010 Prairie, was established with the idea that its food vendors would change from time to time. Now that it’s hitting its first anniversary, some stalls are taking on new identities. That process started in March when Samurai Ramen was replaced by poke and tempura concept Moku Bar. Now, some other new additions have been announced and the anniversary will be marked with a week of specials.

Melange Creperie and barbecue purveyor El Burro & The Bull are remaining, but Greek eatery Myth Kafe is out. The new additions (besides Moku) are Arte Pizza from pastry chef Kelsey Hawkins (formerly of Osteria Mazzantini, Paul’s Kitchen and Pour Society—all closed now), kolache and doughnut shop Mars Bakery and Noble Rot Wine Bar, which is slated to open at the end of the month.

Arte Pizza is a collaboration between Hawkins and her mother who a press release says, “inspired her love of performing and visual arts.” Also related to the name: the company will donate a percentage of sales from “artist designed products” and weekly featured pizzas. The downtown worker-friendly daily lunch special is $14 and includes a pizza, a petite salad and a drink. Other dishes include ideal bar bites, like lamb meatballs and fried ravioli. Both Arte Pizza and Mars Bakery are set to open on April 17.

That same day kicks off a week of specials that will run through Sunday, April 21. The schedule is below.

Monday

  • 5 to 9 p.m. El Burro and The Bull Steak Night—$12 Steak Plate with $1 beer
  • 7 p.m. to close: Firesale 15—15 beers for $1

Tuesday

  • 8 to 10 p.m.: Geeks Who Drink: Star Wars Trivia Quiz
  • Specials and Prizes from Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co.

Wednesday, all day

  • Moku Bar grand opening special: $13 poke bowl and sake
  • Ballast Point draft beer specials

Thursday, 7 to 10 p.m.:

  • Special tappings from Saint Arnold
  • Pop-up with chef Ryan Savoie of Saint Arnold
  • GenerationHTX Art Gallery debut
  • Music by Urban Circus DJ

Friday

  • 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.: Real Ale 30 Tap Takeover
  • 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.: Music by Urban Circus DJ

Saturday, 12 to 6 p.m.
