Elizabeth and Jerry Hale started Zeapod Cakery seven years ago as a food truck before landing a storefront bakery near Cypress at 13010 FM 529. Now, though, the business is getting rebranded as CAKE Fine Pastry, a name that better reflects the multi-tiered, custom cakes that Elizabeth regularly constructs for weddings and other big celebrations. The company also makes “push pop” cakes, cake pops, cupcakes in a jar and cookies.

During the big Super Bowl festivities in Houston, for example, the Hales made a Super Bowl and Champagne-themed cake that was presented to mayor Sylvester Turner’s daughter Ashley for her birthday party at the Houston African American museum. They also handed out over 2,000 red velvet “push pop” cupcakes at the official NFL Tailgating event during the Super Bowl festivities.

Explaining the name change, Elizabeth Hale says, “When we decided to rebrand, we wanted every client to feel that they were getting a cake made exclusively for them. Zeapod Cakery was not crystal-clear to everyone. There were always a lot of questions behind the name and a thirty-minute conversation. With CAKE Fine Pastry, it’s clear what we do and that I want to talk about your cake.

On March 20 at 11:30 a.m., representatives from the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce will be on-hand to rechristen the space with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The celebration is open to the public.
